Human kills another human because of differing views on politics
Whilst the humans are told not to speculate about the motif of the gunman that shot Charlie Kirk. To me and probably the rest of the cat world we know why. We have seen the rise in anger and hate within the political field. We have watched as large swades of humans move about the globe creating tension and dividing the political spectrum even more.
So what was it that he said that was so bad? 'She' always says that she doesn't agree with everything that he said but she agreed with most things. And we enjoyed watching the way he would debate people with opposing views with charm, wit and above all politeness. He was a gentleman, a hard right conservative who believed in traditional roles for men and women and was a huge supporter of the 'family' unit. An old fashioned man with deep morals from a bygone era that was engaging young people in America and around the world. His organisation 'Turning Point' was all about supporting free speech in a democratic society. Never being afraid of speaking his mind on things that many of us are afraid to say out loud.
Whatever people might believe about his views. The point is, he has the right to speak them. And this will do much harm to free speech. People have been pushed into a corner, silenced, told to be quiet when they did speak up, things are uncomfortable, and tensions are building. The mainstream media does not report the news, but moves around an agenda that the common person finds difficult to understand. Of course we cats can see exactly what is happening as we stand on the outer edge and look upon the terrible behavior of selfish humans and unruly societies who seek to destroy the peace the west has created.
I can't remember who said it, but we should not knock anything down until we have built something better. Democracy may not be perfect but it is the best thing for a civilised society. A society that has warm homes and happy cats curled up on the sofa arm in a sunbeam. This is the world we want to live in. I will continue to meow about things that are important to us and our humans.
But for now this is a tribute to the: Late, great, Charlie Kirk a Christian, Husband and Father of two young children - Who died doing what he loved and should have been safe to speak in a free country. May the work you have done continue to create debate and peaceful conversations. May your death put an end to the violence rather than fuel the fire even further.
Rest in peace to a kind, young gentleman.
